North Cairns Travel

For the perfect Cairns vacation, following are the things to do in Cairns area.

Palm Cove

Take the scenic drive from Cairns to Palm Cove, which is just 20 minutes drive north. Australia’s spa capital has lovely resorts and features the Cairns Tropical Zoo where visitors can get up close to some of Australia’s unique wildlife.

Port Douglas

You can travel further to swanky Port Douglas, a chic resort town where people come to soak up sunshine and the good life. There are all sorts of tours available and terrific accommodation options here. The Rainforest Habitat wildlife sanctuary is a highlight.

Cape Tribulation

People gush about Cape Tribulation, where the mountains, thick with rainforest and swollen rivers, dip into the sea of the Great Barrier Reef. Walk through ancient forest, take a dip in a swimming hole or try your hand at sea kayaking. Then, moving on, you can also take a 4WD vehicle to venture through the World Heritage, listed Daintree National Park.

Cooktown

Cooktown is a sleepy tropical port town. It is Queensland’s last proper town before the wilderness of the Cape York Peninsula. There are good fishing carters in Cooktown and people come from everywhere to catch and release big fish. It is a great Australian town with a unique spirit all its own. Long virgin beaches and the Great Barrier Reef lie beyond.

Kuranda

Kuranda, a village midway between Cairns and the Tableland is known for its souvenir markets, heritage steam train, award-winning Skyrail cableway and Rainforestation Nature Park; where you can get an unforgettable rainforest tour on an army duck.
