Ambassador Hotel’s Final Years Captured in New Photo Book

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 11, 2006

Photographer Whit Wagner takes readers on a last tour of the Ambassador Hotel with his book, “Late Check-Out: Images From The Ambassador Hotel’s Final Two Years”.

“Late Check-Out” documents the long-shuttered hotel’s final days before demolition began to make way for the construction of three new LAUSD schools. Readers explore the hotel’s interior and exterior in detail, from overgrown lawns to the long-forgotten bank vault.

Whit Wagner is a freelance photographer & writer based in Los Angeles. He began photographing the Ambassador Hotel’s exterior and grounds in early 2004. Access to the interior, however, was repeatedly refused by LAUSD until a “last tour” was offered to the general public in March 2005. The experience was chronicled by Wagner in the May 2005 issue of “Photoblogs Magazine” and led to the publication of “Late Check-Out” a year later by Lulu.com.

“The Ambassador slowly decayed for more than fifteen years after checking out her final guests in 1989. Documenting this amazingly unique process was a privilege, particularly in light of it’s recent demolition,“ said Wagner. “Hopefully, “Late Check-Out” offers readers a view into this irreplaceable world.”
