Symptoms and How to Treat Traveler’s Diarrhea

Symptoms of Traveler’s Diarrhea usually begin abruptly and include urgent diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea and low-grade fever. In the majority of cases, fluid loss is not voluminous and symptoms subside within 3-5 days. How can you treat traveler’s diarrhea? Although fluid loss may not be excessive, it is advisable to drink plenty of fluids. For mild diarrhea, drinking isotonic fluids (containing solutes such as sodium and potassium salts) may be the only treatment required. Bismuth subsalicylate, taken as Pepto-Bismol 60ml (or 2 tablets) four times a day can decrease symptoms. However, this medication should be avoided for those who do not tolerate salicylates, are allergic to aspirin, have kidney problems…

    Skiing Gears and Tips

Ski clothes If you can help it, don’t buy specialist ski clothes for your first try – you might decide you never want to ski again. You can hire your boots where you hire your skis, and as for everything else, you can either borrow skiing gear or buy something that will double as everyday winter wear. Don’t wear denim jeans on the slopes. They shrink when they are wet and can freeze. If you can, borrow a padded pair of ski trousers or padded dungarees known as salopettes (which keep your midriff warner). These won’t get as soaked by wet show. When you are buying or borrowing trousers, make…

    About Traveler’s Diarrhea

John and Janice stared at each other across their dinner table. An extensive array of exotic dishes was set before them, but neither could eat. A couple suffering from traveler’s diarrhea while touring Mexico John and Janice have contracted the ubiquitous traveler’s diarrhea (better known as ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ in Mexico). They have not been discretionary with their diet, and are now suffering the consequences. Travelers to less-developed parts of the world often develop gastrointestinal complaints that mar their trip. Diarrhea is by far the most common…

As many winter holiday makers now know, skiing isn’t just for the rich and leisured classes. It is open to all of us who can afford the price of a winter package holiday and there is a whole range of companies offering to fly and bus us to the slopes. Fans of the sport don’t need me to offer any dos and don’ts. However, if you are considering buying you first skiing holiday, read on. And bear in…

    Ferry in English Channel

If you are taking your car to the Continent, the shortest ferry crossing is usually the cheapest, but it is not necessarily the most economical. A longer ferry crossing can mean fewer miles to drive, which means less petrol and less stress. If you live in Wales or the West of England, say it would be silly to drive to Dover if your eventual destination is southern France. You need to be a maths genius to work out exact costings – ferry prices differ according to the time of year, time of crossing and the car you are driving – and you may prefer to spend more time on the…
