Cairns

There are few places on earth where two World Heritage sites lie right next to each other. Cairns is one such place, being the gateway to the two of the world’s natural treasures – the location Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforests.

Stretching more than 2000km, the Great Barrier Reef comprises hundreds of coral reefs and islands. Explore by scuba diving, snorkeling or from the comfort of a semi submersible or underwater observatory.

If you want to explore the World Heritage rainforest, you can go on a ranger-guided walk, a 4WD nature safari or go camping. For a bird’s eye view, try the award-wining Skyrail, one of the world’s longest gondola cableways.

Cairns is also hailed as the adventure capital of Australia. Go rafting on the wild Tully River, try quad biking, tandem skydiving or hot air ballooning at sunrise.

If you prefer a relaxing getaway, head to Palm Cove or Port Douglas Australia, idyllic seaside villages just a short drive from Cairns. You will fall in love with the immaculate beaches, heavenly spas and wonderful restaurants.
